About Sheridan K Hailley, MA CPT

Sheridan completed her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology in 1985, at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton. She began expanding her work to include holistic approaches 1990.

Clinical Counseling
Sheridan began her career in the mental health field, helping individuals with depression, PTSD, anxiety, eating disorders, panic disorder and stress-related illness. In 1988, Sheridan moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, where she became registered and insured with the BC Association of Clinical Counselors.
For over 20 years, Sheridan worked in the field of substance abuse and addictions counseling, in Vancouver and subsequently on Maui. Sheridan became certified as a substance abuse counselor, and certified to train new counselors in this field. Her work in the substance abuse field encompassed working with: co-occuring mental health issues, past childhood abuse, domestic violence, sexual abuse, trauma recovery and family systems. Sheridan supported her work with ongoing, post-graduate professional trainings and certifications in each of these clinical areas.
Sheridan especially enjoyed the deep work of healing trauma underlying the concerns that clients initially presented. She studied with therapists internationally known for their work in the field of shock trauma: Peter Levine Phd, Somatic Experiencing, “Waking the Tiger”, Marianne Bentzen, MA and Lisbeth Marcher(founder) BodyNamics Psychotherapy, “Untying the Bodyknot” Concurrently, Sheridan was pursuing her studies in holistic therapies:

Bodywork
In the early 1990’s, Sheridan explored various hands-on bodywork approaches (Satnam Rasayan and Craniosacral therapy). She became particularly fascinated with the broadened understanding of health, which Ayurveda and Polarity therapy opened up to her. Sheridan was struck by the power of this gentle approach to take her deep within, to heal and transform. Sheridan received her training from the Westcoast school of Polarity Therapy, Sattva Center School, and and later trained at the The Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sheridan completed her certification in Ayurvedic Polarity Therapy in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1994. Sheridan is insured with the Association of Bodyworkers and Massage Therapists.

Energy-based Yoga
Included in her ayurvedic studies, ayuryoga embraces the practice of yoga from the perspective of the human energy system, five element theory and addresses participants’ individual energy needs (click here to read more/article on ayuryoga). Drawing on a range of yoga, movement and meditation styles, from active Kundalini to ultraslow Feldencrais, Sheridan enjoyed teaching gentle yoga classes at centers in the Lower Mainland, BC from 1995 until she moved to Maui in 2003. From 2014-16, She taught in California, including at Harbin and FourSprings retreat centers. On Maui, it remains dear to her heart to teach a gentle, restorative style of yoga so that each participant receives an experience of calm, and mindbody healing, as well as inspiration and tools for their ongoing self-care. Currently she teaches at Lumeria Maui and Wailea Healing Center.

Meditation
Sheridan finds the meditation skills that she has developed over 25 years integral to the professional services she provides. She began teaching classes in the mid 1990’s. Since then, she has taught meditation classes and workshops in Vancouver, Marin and Lake County California and currently on Maui. Sheridan’s innovative classes draw on a range of teachings: Vipassana/mindfulness, visualization, guided journeys, shamanic practice, dreamwork and intuitive development studies. In 2007, Sheridan traveled to India, where she completed a course of study at the Oneness University, greatly enhancing her skills as a channel and therapist.

**Sheridan currently makes her home on Maui, offering Mindbody healing sessions and classes locally and by phone/skype. She enjoys writing (see articles, Maui Vision Magazine) and has recently interviewed on WomanMatters radio. She is honored to be a part of the healing community on Maui- an island known as a heart-chakra center of the world, rich in nourishing healing energy.
