About Sheridan
Sheridan completed her Masters degree in Psychology in 1985 at the accredited, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton. With enthusiasm and commitment to her chosen field, she has continued to advance her training and explore a range of work experiences over the years.
Sheridan’s background includes work in Mental Health, providing diagnostics and treatment for such issues as anxiety/ stress-related illnesses, depression and eating disorders. Sheridan has worked for many years in the field of substance abuse and addictions counseling. She is a certified Alcohol & Drug counselor and is certified to train substance abuse counselors. During this time she developed a deep understanding of related issues ; family systems, core shame/ esteem, codependency/ enabling, abuse (including sexual abuse, domestic violence) and trauma. She has developed a specialization in helping her clients recover from trauma - the effects of which are often at the root of current daily challenges.
Early on, Sheridan expanded her studies to include holistic, and body-centered therapies: yoga and awareness through movement, Somatic Experiencing, craniosacral therapy and various advanced forms of meditation. She trained and received certification in Ayurvedic Polarity Therapy in Vancouver, BC. Advanced training included studies at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Integrating body-based therapies into her practice greatly enhanced her ability to facilitate powerful, transformative experiences for her clients. In 2007, Sheridan traveled to India where she furthered her spiritual studies and greatly advanced her professional skill.
In addition, Sheridan has consistently been guided to deepen her awareness and growth. Her personal journey has included overcoming physical challenges as well as healing from early traumas. As a result of her awakening journey, Sheridan possesses a high degree of sensitivity, and provides highly effective healing modalities for individuals and groups.
Sheridan currently practices on Maui. She serves mainland residents, via telephone sessions and consultations. She travels to mainland locations providing inspiring workshops, and therapy services.
